Written by Glazier Football | Mar 26, 2024 8:47:39 PM

Pitt Special Teams Coordinator Jacob Bronowski walks you through 2 of the drills he uses for his punt coverage team.  In addition to their use on the coverage team, Coach B illustrates some applications on offense and defense of the break chop and snag techniques.

You can view his entire 53-minute clinic on Top Drills to Take Special Teams to the Next Level by going to Glazier Drive.

The clinic shows chalk talk technique breakdown, practice video of the drills, and game applications of the skills.

Coach Bronowski's Philosophy

  1. Teach skills for special teams players that transfer to offense and defense.  Show the players specific examples of where those skills transfer.

  2. Three Types of Drills

Technique Drills--Designed to isolate movements and create muscle memory.  The majority of drills that he runs are technique drills.

Competitive Drills--Designed to see which players can apply techniques under duress.

Game Simulation--These are team reps, or live for 10 reps.  Shows which players can put it all together.

  3. Types of Drill Work|

PODS--Allow for maximum reps from consistent spots on the field.

Circuit--Coaches only have to run one drill the entire period.

    Indy Groups--Positionspecific works for units.
