Running Back Cut Block Drill

Running Back Cut Block Drill

Illustration of RUNNING BACK CUT BLOCK DRILL

The Cut Drill simulates the downfield block or the cut block of the E.M.L.O.S. The blocking back should make his cut six inches above the defender's knee.

The bags represent defenders. Illustrated above is the three-bag drill, where the blocking back cuts the first bag and then immediately gets back up and then proceeds to the next bag, repeating the same technique.

Once the block has been thrown, keep your feet moving.

Finish the drill by sprinting for a hard five yards. Blocking back puts his helmet across the bag, always going to his stomach once the block has been made.
