Offensive Line Base Check - Push and Pull Drill

Offensive Line Base Check: Push & Pull Drill

Maintaining a solid base is key for any player on the offensive line. The Push & Pull drill will help train your lineman to keep a steady base and improve protection.Illustration of OFFENSIVE LINE BASE CHECK - PUSH AND PULL DRILL

  1. Have offensive blocker get into a good pass pro set.
  2. Have a partner push from different sides, trying to make the blocker lose his wide base set.
  3. Partner can either try push or pull.
  4. Make blocker maintain his base by sliding to recover, never crossing your feet -- never lose shoulder width base.
  5. Blocker should first start out with arms behind him and then work base with arms fully extended.
