Throwing screens gives you several benefits: slows down the pass rush, makes the defensive linemen run, and they are relatively easy throws.
In the video below, Coach Brandon Hickman, Head Coach, of Dallas Jesuit HS in Texas shows some of the screens they run.

Why Run Screens?
- Slows down the pass rush.
- Makes the defensive line run. They like to start screens early in the game to make the defensive line run a lot.
- It is a high percentage pass.
- They run 10 minutes of screen period in practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They have multiple groups going at once. That allows backups to get a lot of reps.
- It allows the Offensive linemen an opportunity to run and block in space.
- Get your speed guys the ball. Can lead to explosive plays.
- Helps set up deep throws if the defense jumps the screen.
