Positives of playing cover 3
🏈Balanced vs. Run or Pass
🏈Allows you to have an 8 man box
🏈It's simple and allows guys to play fast
Negatives of playing cover 3
🏈You must have a good defensive line
🏈Short passing game and 4 vertical passing game can be problematic
🏈You can't just be a cover 3. You have to mix it up.
Drop Spots in cover 3
- 2 hook curl players (strong and weak)
- 2 curl flat players (strong and weak)
- Outside shoulder, 45 degree angle, the hook curl or curl flat will be 8 to 12 yards
- Country cover 3-nobody behind you in your 3rd of the field
- There are gaps outside of the tackles (Crease, Alley, Outside)
